NAVASSA, NC (WWAY) — A community workshop on the Kerr-McGee Superfund Site in Navassa kicked off tonight to continue getting input from residents. Friday evening was the first of the two-day workshop.
It is the latest attempt from the Multistate Trust to discuss the future of the Superfund site.
The Kerr-McGee Chemical Corporation operated a wood treatment plant in Navassa for nearly 45 years. The plant contaminated the groundwater and soil.
