SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A meeting will be held today to update neighbors on an environmental investigation and clean-up at an old wood treatment plant in northwest Springfield.
In December, an investigation showed the former Kerr-McGee facility on West High Street left the soil and groundwater contaminated with creosote and levels of chemicals higher than EPA standards.
The latest findings by the Greenfield Environmental Multistate Trust, which is leading the cleanup efforts, show these vapors have the potential of moving through foundations and walls.
